Favorites of 2015

“Raindrops on roses…”  When I see the image below I can’t help but sing the song. I love that movie, and man, can Julie Andrews sing. I digress.

2015 is coming to an end. If I can say one thing about this year, it was the year of great discoveries: from new authors to new musicians. Don’t you love it when you find a hidden gem? You feel like an archaeologist on a quest or a gold miner who has just discovered gold. Here’s a list of my favorite discoveries from 2015:Favorite Books: I’ve read some great ones this year, but these 3 have stuck with me. I read so many books, I tend to forget their titles or what they were about, but these 3 were easy to remember because they left a lasting impression. (I cried from all 3, which isn’t something I easily do from reading a book). Oh, and yes, these are all YA.
1. Between Us And The Moon by Rebecca Maizel
2. I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios
3. How To Love by Katie Cotugno

Favorite Music Discoveries: I’m addicted to ITunes. I love my IPod – imho, it is one of the best inventions of the 21st century. I love discovering new music groups to fall in love with. Here are a few who have helped inspire me as I write:
1. The Paper Kites (They’ll help you mellow out).
2. Greg Laswell  (His lyrics, his voice, so beautiful, so powerful)
3. Gregory Alan Isakov (Touching, heart tugging)

Favorite Movies: This one isn’t as easy for me. A lot of movies that are being made just don’t measure up. Maybe I’m too picky, but I’d at least like a plot. Anyway, here are the ones that stood out for me this year:
The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet
Insurgent (yes, I know it doesn’t follow the book, but I loved this one. I loved Divergent, too.)
Age of Adaline
Far from the Madding Crowd
Bridge of Spies
