Favorite Male Characters

Who are my favorite male characters in books?

That’a simple question for me to answer. I put it in the perspective of if these characters were real, would I want to be friends with them, be related to them, etc.?  Mr. Darcy from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Atticus Finch from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird are my favorite male characters.

Both are stand-up guys. Atticus stands up for what he believes in, no matter what the price may be. He loves his family. He’s an honorable man – a man of scruples and common sense. A brilliant man that I would be honored to know. I’d love to have dinner with him and would just listen to him talk in the hope that his some of his insight and brilliance would rub off on me.

Mr. Darcy – I love me some Darcy. Swoon! He’s a chivalrous, go-get-em type of guy. He doesn’t care what others think; he’s confident and sure of himself. He’ll stop at nothing to make sure that the one he loves is protected. That is very heroic, indeed.

I have other characters I like a lot, but they’re not my favorites, not yet anyway:)  As I continue to read, I’m sure I’ll find another gem in a novel, another favorite to add to my list. That’s what makes reading so much fun.
